The Cantonal Laboratory of Basel-Stadt continued its surveillance and control of the Asian tiger mosquito in 2025. Once again, it relied on cooperation with other cantonal offices, the municipalities of Riehen and Bettingen, and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. Private households, leisure gardening associations and businesses are encouraged to continue contributing to control efforts in order to keep mosquito density as low as possible. In addition, during the analysis of captured mosquitoes, the Cantonal Laboratory detected the dengue virus in a tiger mosquito sample in Basel for the first time.
