The 2024 tiger mosquito season is just around the corner. In 2023, severe nuisance caused by tiger mosquitoes was reported in some places in the canton of Basel-Stadt. Consistent control of breeding sites can minimize the tiger mosquito population. Residents can now obtain a biological agent to control mosquito larvae in unavoidable breeding sites at five collection points in the canton. The canton is also calling on people to remove overwintering mosquito eggs by thoroughly cleaning potential breeding sites. Consultation hours for the public will continue in 2024 and start on May 16.
