Romandy resumes the fight against the tiger mosquito and calls on citizens to take action

06/05/2026

With the return of the warm season, the fight against the tiger mosquito is resuming in Romandy. Although its presence is still limited at this time of year, now is precisely when preventive actions are most effective.

The authorities in Romandy emphasize the importance of collective action to slow the establishment and spread of this mosquito before summer. They therefore call on all residents to adopt proper preventive measures, in particular by eliminating standing water around homes, covering containers, and regularly maintaining outdoor spaces.

The tiger mosquito mainly develops in small amounts of water, and its proliferation largely depends on individual behaviour. Early vigilance in spring can significantly reduce its presence during the summer season.

The authorities stress that everyone can play a role in containing this invasive species and reducing the associated nuisance and health risks.
